Thomas David Lasater, 89, passed away at his home Dec. 27, 2015, after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Throughout it all he never complained. Visitation will be today 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel, with service to follow at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Officiating will be Tom Wood.
David was born to Thomas and Eula Rhodes Lasater on March 18, 1926, in Florence, Alabama. David served in the U.S. Navy in the Atlantic and Pacific Theater of war. He was a member of Woodward Avenue Baptist Church, IBEW Local 558, Masonic Lodge No. 503 and 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner. After the war, David started working as a meter reader with Florence Electric Department and ended his career on retirement as manager of the Muscle Shoals Electric Board. David was a loving husband, daddy and granddaddy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Eula Rhodes Lasater, and son, Philip.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of 69 years; daughter, Linda Isbell (Richard); grandchildren, Bryant Isbell, Julie Hargett (Chris), Christopher Isbell (Jayci), Kathryn Hancock (Hayden) and Walker Lasater; and great-grandchildren, Alli Isbell, Cooper and Banks Hargett, Jolee Isbell, and Ciara and Carter Cameron.
The family would like to thank Dr. Loren McCoy, Dr. John Bartmess, Misty Wilson, Rose, Kristen, Jessica and Felicia with Southern Care Hospice, and his sitters, Rhonda Welch, Nicole Malone and Brenda Hudson for their loving care.
Pallbearers will be Bryant Isbell, Christopher Isbell, Walker Lasater, Chris Hargett, Hayden Hancock and Terry McMinn.
