Thomas Curtis Coburn – Obituary

Thomas Curtis Coburn, age 84, died Wednesday, March 29, 2017. His family will receive friends Saturday, April 1, 2017, 10-11:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary with David Dale and David Lee officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Mr. Coburn was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Tuscumbia. He served in the Marines and was a veteran of the Korean War. Tom served in the State House of Representatives and was former chairman of the Ways and Means Committee and was retired after thirty-three years of service with South Central Bell and Northwest Shoals Community College. He was devoted to many local missions including the Colbert Caring Center, the Jail Ministry and the Juvenile Detention Center.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Marie Thompson Coburn and his parents; Paul and Myrtle Coburn.

He is survived by his son; Thomas Mark Coburn and wife Tammie of Madison, AL, daughter; Emily Coburn DaLee of Huntsville, brother; Jim Coburn, grandchildren; Jeremy Coburn and wife Amber, Juliana Coburn, Alicia DaLee and Robert Dalee.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Colbert Caring Center.

The family expresses special thanks to Wanda and Mary for the love and care given to our father.
