Margaret Marie Hays, 83, of Muscle Shoals, formerly of Cherokee, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 1, 2017 at Harris Chapel Cemetery. Casey Hagle will officiate.
Mrs. Hays was a native of Colbert Co., AL and a member of Harris Chapel Baptist Church. She was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Eastern Star as well as serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was a member of the Cherokee Lions’ Club and served as secretary for many years. She was a patron of The Cherokee Public Library and an advocate of the arts. She was also a Sunday School teacher who loved teaching and singing about her Lord. She was loved by all who knew her.
She was a devoted wife of sixty-four years, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed her family and life. She enjoyed the outdoors and fellowshipping with family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents Manuel and Nancy Catherine Johnson.
Survivors are: husband, Ray L. Hays; children David Hays (Kathy), Debbie Windsor (Tom), Karen Hays, and Mitch Hays (Jamie); sister Nell Porter; grandchildren Blake Hays, Kelly Windsor Meckes, Katie Windsor Hagle, Rachel Hays Smith, Tommy Windsor, Anna Margaret Hays, and Jacob Mitchell Hays; great-grandchildren Lilly Meckes, Will Meckes, Windsor Grace Hagle, Sam Hagle, Sarah Kate Hagle, Mary Vivian Hays and Chloe Hays.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Brad McAnnally, the ICU staff at Helen Keller Hospital as well as Amy Garner and Shelia Sharp for the wonderful care given to our mother.
Memorials may be made to the Cherokee Public Library and/or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
