Born November 25, 1940 in Limestone County to W.T. and Ethel Harbin, passed away November 1, 2015 at home surrounded by his wife and sons.

Services will be Wednesday, November 4, 2015 1:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with John Blankenship and Kasey Harbin officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 3, 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Sunnyhill Cemetery.

Mr. Harbin was retired from Fruehauf Trailer Corp. where he worked as a scrap buyer for 35 years. After retirement Mr. Harbin also worked for Morley Denbo at Tennessee Valley Recycling as a metal buyer. Later Mr. Harbin went into business for himself opening Harbin Grocery in the Reid Community. He loved outdoor activities, hunting, fishing and all sports especially auto racing and baseball. He was a Little League Baseball Coach for many many years coaching all his sons teams as they grew up, and coached 100’s of other boys who played on those teams. He also was an avid Knife Collector especially “Case” pocket knives, and was an expert at sharpening and polishing knives. He saw value in every person and treated everyone the same. It made no difference if you were black or white, or rich or poor; he treated each person with respect and dignity. He was a devoted husband, to Joyce Hardy Harbin for 54 years, and was the proud father, of 5 sons which he dedicated his life to, and a loving grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a member of Westview Church of Christ.

Survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce Harbin of Athens; five sons, Keith Harbin Kevin Harbin and wife, Gayle, Kenneth Harbin and wife, Beverly, Kasey Harbin and wife, Kimberly and Kim Harbin and wife, Julie all of Athens; grandchildren, Ivy Ellen Harbin, Ashley Breann Harbin York, Chloe Michelle Harbin, Jonathan Phillip Harbin, Lindsay Nichole Harbin Lamb, Colton Thomas Harbin, Chase Harbin, Hunter Harbin and Maddie Harbin; great-grandchildren, Waylon Harbin, Anslee York and Nora Beth Lamb.

Pallbearers will be Mr. Harbin’s sons. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Phillip Harbin, Colton Thomas Harbin, Chase Harbin and Hunter Harbin.
