Bobby Joe Williams It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Bobby Joe Williams. He was 92 years old and a resident of Cherokee since 1953. He left us for his heavenly home on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, while residing at the Southern Magnolia in Iuka, Mississippi. Visitation will be at 1:00 Sunday, March 16th, at Morrison Funeral Home in Cherokee. The funeral service will immediately follow in the funeral home chapel with Mike Hester and Steve Slaton officiating.

Bobby was born in Thaxton, Mississippi and moved to Cherokee following discharge from the Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Cherokee First Baptist and worked for Cherokee Nitrogen for over 50 years, retiring at the age of 81.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Hazel Williams, of Thaxton, Mississippi; his wife of 71 years, Nell Cochran Williams; brothers, Edward and Phillip Williams; grandson, David Maxwell; sons-in-law, Danny Mardis and Dennis Maxwell.

Bobby is survived by daughters, Elizabeth Rich (Steve), and Donna Maxwell; brother, Johnny Williams; grandchildren, Deanna Terry (Lee), Daniel Maxwell (Tosha), Paige Mardis, Patrick Mardis (Allana); great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Sydney, Karli Jo, Evelyn, and Lydia Maxwell; one great-great-grandson, Blake; sisters-in-law, Bettye Carlisle and Dot Williams.

The family wishes to express their appreciation to Southern Magnolia and Gentiva Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cherokee First Baptist Church Compassion Outreach, P. O. Box 253, Cherokee, Alabama 35616.
