Thomas Bryce “T.Bird” Watkins, age 69, of Athens, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on May 27, 2026.
Born on August 7, 1956, in Athens, Alabama, Thomas was the beloved son of Herschel B. “Pete” Watkins, Jr. and Martha “Mot” Jackson Watkins. Known affectionately by many as “T.Bird”, and as “Papa Bird” by his grandchildren. Thomas was a dedicated Auburn Alumni, a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity, and a long-time AHSAA referee.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Anna Watkins Mosley and husband Jared Mosley; grandson, Arlie Mosley; granddaughter, Eden Mosley; sister, Paula Tate and husband Terrell “Terry” Tate Jr.; brother, Herschel “Bryan” Watkins III and wife Deborah; nephew, Terrell “Troy” Tate III and wife Savannah; and nieces, Jacque Watkins and Tara Perez and husband Andrew, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Janet Watkins.
Visitation will be held Monday, June 1, 2026, at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with David Ezell officiating.
Thomas will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
