Thelma Hampton Cheatom

Mrs. Thelma Hampton Cheatom was born May 31, 1927, to the late Walter Hampton and Velma Bennett Hampton. After the passing of her mom at an early age, she was raised by a loving adopted mother, Mrs. Lou Bell Napier.

She departed this earthly life on April 10, 2024, at her residence.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Bobby Cheatom and James Cheatom; three sisters, Lizzie Mae Ricks, Mildred McCoy, and Mattie Hampton; one brother, James Emmanuel King; oldest grandson, Clearence W. (Perk) Perkins, Jr.; stepbrothers and stepsisters, Louise King, Levert King, Ora Qualls, and Richard King.

She leaves to cherish her memories:

Three sons, Thomas King of Town Creek, AL; Donnie (Freda) Cheatom of Leighton, AL; and Walter (Daisy) Doss of Tuscumbia, AL; five daughters, Mattie Perkins, Romelia Ford, Phyllis Carter, Etta Cheatom, Sarah Cheatom, all of Leighton, AL; 26 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren; a special nephew, Robert Ricks; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
