FLORENCE-The Strangest Superhero Discussion of All — X-Men: Days of Future Past will be held Thursday, June 5th at 6:30 pm at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library.
All mutants are invited to join us to talk about the latest X-Men film, X-Men: Days of Future Past! Comic and film scholar Barry Rich will lead a discussion on all seven X-Men films, how this film fits in the series, and how it sets up the next film, X-Men: Apocalypse. From there, Days of Future Past will be discussed as an individual installment within the franchise by looking at how this particular storyline works within the movie. Finally, this film adaptation will be compared to the original 1981 comics story arc by Chris Claremont and John Byrne.Barry Rich is an adjunct instructor of English and a would-be cosmic entity. When he isn’t teaching composition, grading papers, or trying to downsize his Netflix queue, he tends to take part in a general array of nerdiness that ranges from Doctor Who and comic books to videogames and Broadway musicals. Since he was young, the X-Men have been an obsession of his and continue to be, as he watches the inhabitants of Earth 616 and its alternates with bated breath and excitement.
