images1Antarctica is the largest desert in the world and it is the only continent that is covered with ice. Antarctica has great importance for humans as about 90 percent of the total ice of the world is found here and more importantly it is also the largest fresh water source of the world. It contains about 70 percent of the fresh drinkable water of the earth. Global warming is a greatest danger for this ice and fresh water source. If the temperature of the world keeps on rising there’ll be time when the thick ice sheets of Antarctica will melt and ultimately it will result in the rise of the water levels in the world. According to experts, the water of seas can rise about 60 to 65 meters (195 to 210 feet). This rise will become the cause of destruction of human life on earth.
