Terry Jean Powell, age 54, of Humboldt, Tennessee, passed away peacefully at home in her sleep on May 25, 2026. She was born in Humboldt on October 7, 1971.
Terry was preceded in death by her father, Ray O’Neal Powell and her grandparents, Gerald and Margaret Powell and Andrew and Rosa Mayfield.
She is survived by her mother, Doris Mayfield Powell; sister, Tammy Graves (Bart); brother, Andy Powell (Star); nieces and nephews, Drew and Kendall Powell, Colton and Maddie Graves, Jordan and Kaylee Tice, and Timber Anderson; aunts, uncles, cousins, and cherished friends whose bond with one another was strong and deeply cherished.
Terry worked for many years at Humboldt Flower Shop alongside her dearest friend, Teri Kuykendall. She also served her community as a sales associate at Walmart and Dollar General. In recent years, she devoted herself full time to caring for her beloved mother.
She loved to read, watch reruns of The Dukes of Hazard, spend time with family, friends, and her pug, Samantha. A lifelong member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Humboldt, Terry faithfully served as a Children’s Sunday School teacher, Children’s Church teacher, and nursery worker. Her love for children and her dedication to her church family were central parts of her life. Her kindness, generosity, and servant’s heart touched countless lives and will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 30, 2026, at 2 PM in the chapel of Shelton-Hunt Funeral Home with Jake Fry officiating. Burial to follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Trenton. Visitation with the family will be held from noon until service time in the chapel of Shelton Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Drew Powell, Kendall Powell, Colton Graves, Maddie Graves, Jordan Tice and Eric Powell.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the children’s program at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Humboldt in her honor.
