Teddy Lynn Pounders, 79, of Florence, passed away February 1, 2025. He was a member of Petersville Church of Christ. He was a manager for W.T. Grant and Big K for several years before opening Pounders True Value Hardware on Cloverdale Road in Florence, AL. He loved his family and church and was an avid Alabama fan. Mr. Pounders also enjoyed amateur radio, his call sign was W4RJ, and gardening and traveling. Teddy graduated from Coffee High School in 1964 and attended the University of North Alabama.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 6, 2025 from 11:00-1:00 p.m. at Petersville Church of Christ. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Sonny Owens and Adam Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Stony Point Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Fisher, Colton Fisher, Caleb Handley, Chris Kelly, Blake Kelly and John Medley.
Honorary pallbearers will be Johnny Sutherland, Bob Parks, Tom Hardison, and Terry Oakley.
Mr. Pounders was preceded in death by his parents, Ellis and Eddes Richardson Pounders.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Scharlon Barnes Pounders; daughters, Tracie Pounders Fisher (Brian) and Tammie Pounders Kelly (Chris); and grandchildren, Colton Fisher (Kaitlin), Tristin Fisher (Caleb), Blake Kelly (Elizabeth), and Ashley Medley (John); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Syringomyelia Alliance Project (ASAP) foundation for spinal cord research.
