FLORENCE – The 2018 Lynne Burris-Butler Visiting Poet Series will feature Tara Betts reading at the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 9.

Betts is the author of Break the Habit (2016), kwansabas (2015) and Arc and Hue (2009).  Her work has appeared in numerous publications, including Essence, Callaloo, and Columbia Poetry Review, as well as many anthologies. She has appeared on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam and twice competed in the National Poetry Slam.

Tara Betts’ reading is made possible by the generosity of the family of Lynne Burris-Bulter, a poet who retired from the UNA English Department after a long career of teaching creative writing.
