Sylvia Towles Hill Sylvia Ellen Towles Hill departed this life on earth and went home to heaven on January 16, 2025.

Sylvia was deeply loved by her family and was their unwavering supporter. Her strength, big heart, and steadfast love showed each one of them how much she loved them. She was selflessly giving, was always there for others and described as a true southern woman. She will be sincerely missed by everyone whose path she crossed, especially her family.

Sylvia was a lifelong member of First United Methodist Church of Florence. She graduated from Coffee High School in 1953 and went on to graduate with a BS degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama in 1957. She was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority. She married the love of her life, Fitzgerald Hill on June 14, 1958. Sylvia taught second grade in Sheffield, AL and in Raleigh, NC. After having her two daughters she decided to be a stay at home mother.

Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband Mr. William Fitzgerald Hill, parents Mr. Maxwell Towles and Mrs. Mary Cole Towles, and parents-in-law Judge Robert M. Hill and Mrs. Rachel Fitzgerald Hill. She is survived by Daughters Karen Hill Leavitt and Mary Hill Armstrong (Donnie), Brother-in-law Robert M. Hill, Jr, 5 grandchildren: Brooks Towery, Sylvia Carroll (Joee), Emily Rose Carmichael (Laurence), Rachel Armstrong, Hill Leavitt and 2 great-grandchildren Eli Carroll and Olivia Carroll.

Friends may greet the family on Sunday, January 26 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church of Florence in McDowell Hall.
