Larry Willette Saxon, was born February 11, 1948 and went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2025 at his home surrounded by his family, after battling cancer for two years.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Donnell Skinner Saxon of Starkville, MS; his children, Kimberly McIntosh (Michael) of Freeport, FL; and son, Donald Saxon (Catherine) of Starkville, MS. Larry affectionately loved his grandchildren, Bella Bingham, Maggie Ellen Bingham, Bryson Saxon and Mason Saxon; step-grandchildren, Hayden, Abby and Dylan McIntosh; sister, Judy Roland and family of Augusta, GA; and his brother, Donnie Saxon-Fox and family of Orlando, FL.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Willette Saxon (Clara) and Jewel Johnson (Ed).

Larry joined the Navy in 1967, served two tours of duty in Vietnam with the Mine Division 113. After he and Donnell married, they began their many business ventures together. To name a few, Saxon’s Shoes, Kim’s Hallmark, Saxon Properties, and Regional Sale Manager with Reebok.

He was a member of Bridgeway Church in Starkville.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, January 24, 2025 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Memorial Garden Park Cemetery in Starkville.

Pallbearers are: Brandon Skinner, Brady Lance, Drew Lance, Ben Tate, Chris Roland, and Jason Roland.

Honorary pallbearers are: Members of Larry’s Sunday School Class.
