Memorial service for Sylvia Ann Griffin, 72, of Decatur, will be Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Southside Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Ben Hayes officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.
Ms. Griffin, who died Monday, Nov. 13, 2017, at Huntsville Hospital, was born June 3, 1945, in Columbia, Alabama, to Robert Barfield and Lucy Jane Flowers Barfield. She was preceded in death by her parents. Ms. Griffin was a dedicated member of Southside Baptist Church, a past member of the Austin High School Booster Club, and an avid Alabama football fan.
She is survived by one son, Todd Griffin (Robin), of Clermont, Florida; one daughter, Sherri L. Machanich (Michael), of Reno, Nevada; two brothers, Bob Barfield (Vee) and Kenneth Barfield (Carol); two sisters, Phoebe Fowler and Phyllis Skeen (Jerry); and three granddaughters, Taylor Michelena, Meg Griffin and Annie Griffin.
