Sybil Cornelia Mobley Phipps, 94, died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 at the Simerson Greenhouse at United Methodist Senior Services in Tupelo where she had resided for some time. Sybil was born on September 25, 1921 in Heath Springs, SC to the late Ralph and Sally Mobley. She lived much of her adult life in the Florence, AL area where she and her late husband, James B. Phipps were the founders and longtime operators of The Quick Print Shop. Mr. Phipps died July 10, 1995. Shortly thereafter, she moved to the Tupelo area to be near her son and daughter in law, Bill and Jane Kelly Phipps. Although she lived in Tupelo the last 19 years, she remained a faithful member of the Cypress Creek Methodist Church in Florence. She loved her family and wide circle of friends and was very proud of her United Methodist heritage.
A service celebrating her life will be held at 2 PM Friday, Jan. 29, 2016 at Greenview Memorial Chapel in Florence with burial to follow in the Greenview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from noon-service time Friday only at the funeral home in Florence. Holland Funeral Directors assisted the family locally.
Survivors include her two sons: James B. “Jim” Phipps of Florence and William “Bill” Phipps and wife, Jane of Tupelo; two grandchildren, Judy (Jason) Morabito of Pismo Beach, CA. and David Phipps of Birmingham, AL and two great-grandchildren.
