RUSSELLVILLE– The search for Jason Wade Williams, 24 0f Russellville who was wanted in connection with a stabbing earlier in the day was called off about 6 p.m. Tuesday when the suspect was apprehended, according to authorities . Williams has been charged with assault in the first degree and is being held in the Russellville City Jail without bail.
Williams is accused of stabbing another Russellville man during an altercation on Jackson Avenue in downtown Russellville. Police said witnesses reported they were arguing about a woman.
The man who was stabbed had surgery at Russellville Hospital, but his condition was unavailable late Tuesday
Williams’ car was found abandoned near a business on Franklin 48 in the Tharptown area about 5 p.m.
About 5:30 p.m., police were notified that Williams had been seen near Tharptown High School. Williams walked out of a wooded area and surrendered to officers. He was arrested at the scene.
