John L. Kennedy age 72 of Athens, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at his residence. Mr. Kennedy was born August 14, 1941 in Limestone County to Paul Kennedy and Ethel Kelley Kennedy.
Services will be Saturday, August 24, 2013 1:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Tony Wales officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery.
Mr. Kennedy was a member of Elkton Road Baptist Church. He was retired from Sunbeam Bread Company and a former employee of L&S Food Market.
Preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Ethel Kennedy; son, Richard Kennedy, two brothers, Paul Edward Kennedy and Roger Bernard Kennedy.
Survived by his wife, Mary Nell Venable Kennedy of Athens; daughter, Cathy Thrasher of North Port, AL; son, Paul Kennedy of Athens; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Kennedy, Phillip Kennedy, Christopher Alan Kennedy, Kayla Thrasher and Laura Thrasher; brother, James Howard Kennedy and wife Mary Martha of Ardmore, AL; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Wayne Venable, Jr., Dennis Thrasher, Jimmy Kennedy, Dennis Hardy, Spence Miller and Shane LeCroix.
