ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement regarding the assualt and robbery that took place on Tuesday, August 9:
“Late yesterday afternoon the police department received a call from an unknown caller with information about the robbery from yesterday morning.
The caller told us names and an address of the person involved. Last night Investigator Kelly Fussell talked with two suspects in this case.
After the interviews Taylor Jon Nichols was arrested and charged with theft of property 1st degree and assault 3rd degree. The female we were looking for was not charged in this case.
Nichols was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail.
I believe the information we received in this case was due to the media coverage. I don’t thank all of you as often as I should but thank each one of you for all you do.”
