ATHENS-Police Chief Floyd Johnson of the Athens Police Department released a statement regarding the arrest of a suspect in an assault case from July 30, 2016:
Yesterday afternoon Isaac Daniel McLin was arrested by Investigator Jonathan Caldwell for Assault 2nd degree.
On July 30, 2016 officers talked with a 21-year-old male victim at the Athens Limestone Hospital Emergency Room. The victim told officers he received a text message from a female friend asking him to come over to her residence on Levert Avenue and the door would be unlocked.
The victim said when he went into the residence he found the female sleeping. He woke the female up and she was confused and couldn’t figure out how the victim got into her residence. He then said he heard a door open and McLin started hitting him with a pistol. He was struck multiple times before he was able to leave the residence.
McLin was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail. “
