FT PAYNE-Sheriff Jimmy Harris issued a statement on the arrest of a Fort Payne woman on Possession of a Forged Instrument.  The suspect was arrested on Tuesday, November 22:

Sheriff Jimmy Harris states as follows:

 

            “Back on August 17th the DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit went to a residence to execute a search warrant. As a result of the search Carol Marie Gass, 49 of Fort Payne was arrested with charges of Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Gass was also found with some money that was possibly drug money on her person. Through a thorough investigation with the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Investigators and Drug and Major Crimes Unit, it was confirmed that the money found on Gass was counterfeit money. Two warrants was obtained for Carol Marie Gass for Possession of Forged Instrument 1st, Gass was arrested on November 22nd and charged with the 2 counts of Possession of Forged Instrument 1st.

            Sheriff Harris says “the investigators did a great job on this investigation. We are glad to have this counterfeit money off the streets.”
