Sue Turner Ragland, 92, of Huntsville passed away July 6, 2025. Mrs. Ragland was a native of Huntsville and descendant of the Reuben Street family, early settlers of Madison County. She was a graduate of Huntsville High School in 1952. She was an active member of the Episcopal Church. While living in Signal Mountain, Tennessee, she was the chairperson of the Altar Guild at St. Timothy’s Church. After returning to Huntsville, she was chairperson of the Altar Guild at The Episcopal Church of Nativity for many years. Also, at Nativity she was a founding member of the Eucharistic Ministry to the homebound, co-chairperson of the Annual Fund Drive and worked on the Episcopal Trust. Mrs. Ragland was an active member of the Junior Grace Club, Grace Auxiliary, Junior League, and Grace Club.
Mrs. Ragland was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Edward Rowland Ragland Sr.; parents, Ruby and Tully Turner; brother, Tully Turner Jr.; nephew, Tully Turner III; niece, Laura Turner; and grandson, Matthew Tully Ragland. Survivors include sons, Edward Rowland Ragland Jr. (Laura), John Tully Ragland, David Butler Ragland (Beth), and Thomas Wilson Ragland (Jenny); daughter-in-law, Amelia Ragland; grandchildren, Sarah Ragland, Allyson Prince (Jonathan), Rowe Ragland (Samantha), and Mary Margaret Ragland; niece, Sue Turner; and nephews, Greg Turner and Buddy Turner.
In recent years, Sue was blessed by the compassionate care and friendship of Gwendolyn Jackson, Quentessia Armstrong, Annette Duncan, Tionia Baker, Sonya Maddox, and Amedisys Hospice, for which her family will always be deeply grateful.
A graveside service will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 10, 2026, with the Rev. Michael Goldsmith officiating.
