Sue Morgan Smith, 86, passed away peacefully at her home in Phil Campbell, Al on January 4, 2025.
Sue was born May 30, 1938, and lived her entire life in Franklin County. She was a loving wife, mother and special “Mawmaw Sue” to her grandchildren and many others. Sue was a member of Pleasant Hill Church. She was a Franklin County school bus driver for 21 years and an avid supporter of East Franklin Jr High School. Sue loved Christmas and spent numerous hours painting characters and decorating her yard at Christmas. It was a neighborhood must-see for several years.
Sue was preceded in death by her husband Rex Morgan, son Avery Morgan, parents C.J. and Eliza Potter, siblings: Lorene Jones, Nadine Woodard, Earl Potter and Teddie Potter, several brothers and sisters in law that were as close to her as siblings.
She leaves to cherish her memories husband Vernon Smith, daughter Anita Scott, grandchildren Derrick Scott (Lorie), Tiffany Bullington, Jeremy Morgan and Jerrod (Leigha) Morgan. Great grandchildren: Chloe Scott, Chaley Bullington, Tiffin Bullington and Jake Morgan. Stepchildren: Regina Mullen (Jim) and Vivian Reynolds (Matt), 4 step grandsons and 2 step great grandchildren.
Service will be Monday, January 6 at Pleasant Hill Church. Visitation will begin at 10:30 with funeral at 12:00. Officiating will be Bro. Darrell Whitehead with Bro. Merrell Potter reading the obituary. Sue’s grandson Derrick Scott will also be speaking.
