Sue Chase Coons McDaniel, 88, of Huntsville, died Thursday. Mrs. McDaniel graduated from the University of Alabama with a Master’s degree. She was a member of Chi Omega sorority, Delta Kappa Gamma teachers organization, and the Huntsville Grace Club Auxiliary. She was a member of the Church of the Nativity, Episcopal in Huntsville.
Mrs. McDaniel was preceded in death by her father, Dr. Harry Joshua Coons, Sr., mother, Sue Chase Taylor Coons, brother, Harry Joshua Coons, Jr, sister, Viola Hart Coons Ayer, and grandson, Zachary Hart Carey.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Lee McDaniel, Jr.; daughters, Laura Lee McDaniel Innes and husband, Michael Whetstone Innes, Lucy Chase McDaniel Carey and husband, Edward Charles Carey III; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, February 9 at Maple Hill Cemetery with The Rev’d Rusty McCown officiating. Pallbearers will be Frederic Eugene Ayer, Louis Whatley Coons, John Anderson Coons, G. Stephen Wiggins, Julian Howard Hinesley, Jr., and Theo Jasper Polstra.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
