Storytime at the Museum: Native American Heritage Month

FLORENCE-Florence Arts and Museums is happy to announce another of our Storytime at the Museum series. Our Museum Educator is inviting families of ALL ages, with children’s literature focusing specifically on ages 5 to 12 to listen to a retelling of the Thanksgiving story that honors the Native peoples who made it possible on Friday, November 14th from 10-11am at the Florence Mound Museum. The story read aloud will be, Keepuunumuk, Weeâchumun’s Thanksgiving Story, written by Danielle Greendeer, Anthony Perry, and Alexis Bunt, illustrated by Gary Meeches Sr. After listening to the story, families will have the opportunity to create air dry clay seed mosaics to take home or leave at the museum to display for our Native American Heritage Month Display inside of the museum conference room.
This program is sponsored by the City of Florence Department of Arts and Museums. This event will be free to the public. The Florence Mound Museum is open to the public for self-guided tours and other scheduled programming on Tuesday-Saturday from 10-4pm, and on Sunday from 1-4pm.
