July 29, 1958 – May 5, 2024

Born July 29, 1958 in Columbus, Ohio, Steve passed away on May 5, 2024 in Madison, AL with his loving wife Laura and son Bryan by his side. Steve bravely battled Posterior Cortical Atrophy (PCA), a variant of Alzheimer’s disease, for more than 10 years.

Steve had a thirst for knowledge and adventure from an early age. Steve began taking horseback riding lessons at the age of 5, which became a beloved hobby that lasted throughout his life. After his family moved to Triadelphia, WV, Steve attended Warwood High School where he excelled in both academics and athletics. On August 12, 2023, Steve was inducted into the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference (OVAC) Hall of Fame in honor of his athletic achievements in football, track and wrestling. He was deeply proud of the recognition.

Steve earned a full athletic football scholarship to Ohio University where he played defense and lettered 3 years. Steve made lifelong friendships with his teammates and always enjoyed every opportunity to get together with his Bobcat family. He considered the Erpmen, his core band of Bobcat brethren, to be his extended family and he cherished their relationships, antics and memories. Steve earned a degree in Industrial Technology at Ohio University, and worked the majority of his career with Parker Hannifin, which allowed him to travel the world and establish great friends globally.

Steve had a strong work ethic both professionally and in his personal life. He took pride in working with his hands and designed and constructed a beautiful post-and-beam barn in his free time. He loved to spend time outdoors where he enjoyed the beauty of nature and found peace in woodworking and milling lumber.

Steve was a caring and supportive husband and father that provided a strong foundation with a focus on love, laughter and the importance of family. He considered his greatest achievements to be his children and grandchildren. He loved them all dearly and taught by example how to be loving, honest, inquisitive and adventurous.

Steve gracefully navigated the challenges of his diagnosis with a positive attitude. For over a decade he took his decline in stride and adapted to his health’s evolving state without complaint.

Steve is survived by Laura, his wife of 42 years; children Bryan (Stephanie) of Madison, AL; Eric (Candi) of Adamsville, TN; Michelle Morrison (Spencer) of Denver, CO; grandchildren Kaylee Blackwell, Matthew and Natalie Doe, Ollie Doe, Finn Morrison, Hunter Riley and Clay Henderson; sister Debra Doe of New Port Richey, FL; and and his brother from another mother Mark Geisler of Matthews, NC.

Steve was preceded in death by his father Robert Drury Doe and mother Barbara Joan Doe.

A memorial service will be planned for a future date.
