Funeral service for Steven Craig Segars, 71, will be Friday, August 18, 2023 at 3:00 PM at First Baptist Church with Bro. Charles Shaddix officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. His body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Hartselle City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, August 17, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mr. Segars died on Monday, August 14, 2023 at Decatur-Morgan Hospital. He was born February 14, 1952, in Morgan County, to James Odell Segars and Virginia Sharrott Segars, who preceded him in death.
Mr. Segars was a member and Deacon at First Baptist Church of Hartselle, where he enjoyed working on projects at the church. He liked to piddle, enjoyed hunting and loved to fish in the Gulf. He also enjoyed driving around, looking at nature and taking his grandchildren to the Refuge. He was an Alabama Football fan.
Mr. Segars was called “OPO” by his family, the “Bubble Gum man” and the “Lifesaver man” by all the kids at church. He enjoyed seeing people, visiting daily at the Lowe’s Store, loved Gospel Music and yard work. He was employed for 36 years, prior to his retirement, with Bell South and AT&T and then worked with Magnolia River for 10 years.

Pallbearers will be Ferrell Vest, Steve McKee, Tony Riddlehoover, Fred Smith, Jim Owen, Billy McAbee, Huntley Segars and Dan Sparkman.
