Stephenson Dean AdkinsStephenson Dean Adkins, age 21 of Winchester, TN, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at his home. Autopsy results are pending, but the cause of death may never be known. He was born in Knoxville on February 1, 1998 to Callie (Foust) and Brian Adkins, and lived most of his life there. He later moved to Franklin and most recently Winchester where he was attending college. An avid reader, enthusiast, and editor of Wikipedia articles, he had a passion for factual information presented in an unbiased way. Although his aspiration since a young age was to become a PhD in physics, he also had a keen interest in history and political science and the dynamics of leadership, governments, and warfare and how they shaped socioeconomic systems. He had extremely broad interests and could speak to them with remarkable depth and detail. This level of detail was matched only by his wit that could lighten the mood and make a point at the same time. He enjoyed humorous content from the webcomics xkcd and Cyanide & Happiness and frequently viewed the YouTube channels Extra Credits, CGP Grey, and Lindybeige. He played chess and loved chess sets as works of art. He adored his younger sister, Meredith. He loved his dog, Greyden, and, before that, his pet rats. He had a sweet spirit that was expressed the most with his sister, his pets and his younger cousins as well as his grandparents. He faced many challenges in life, but he was a light of persistence, focus, and enthusiasm through all of it. Stephenson leaves behind his parents, Callie Adkins of Winchester and Brian Adkins of Virginia; his sister Meredith, a student at The College of William and Mary in Virginia; his maternal grandparents, Charles and Nancy Foust of Winchester; his paternal grandmother, Marjorie White Adkins of Rocky Top, TN; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Johnnie Adkins. A celebration of life will be held at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Winchester, TN Saturday, January 11, from 1p – 3:30p CST. Their address is: 300 First Avenue NW, Winchester, 37398. Everyone is welcome. The service will begin at 1p and will include a sharing time for anyone that wants to participate, followed by a reception with finger foods and a chance to mingle. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation would be appreciated (100% of donations for research goes to research): https://bbrfoundation.donordrive.com/campaign/Stephenson-Adkins.
