Stephen Warren Carpenter, 72, of Athens, AL passed away Saturday March 8, 2025, at Huntsville Hospital.Mr. Carpenter was born June 1, 1952, in Limestone County, AL to William Joshua Carpenter and Bertha Mae Warren Carpenter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Joan Carpenter, three brothers Orbie Lee Carpenter, Abrom Carpenter and Gene Carpenter.
Mr. Carpenter was a member of Sheet metal workers local 48, He worked at Athens Pickers where he spent many hours with his picker friends. He was a volunteer at the Athens Public library. Mr. Carpenter was a devoted husband, and father, who had many friends and never met a stranger. He was an avid Alabama fan. “Roll Tide”!
He is survived by his son Matthew Carpenter (Tasha), two daughters Alicia Coggin (Stacy) and Melissa Word, one sister Lona Faye Jackson, eight grandchildren Anna Leigh Word, Emma Coggin, Paislee Carpenter, Darby Word, Brayden Carpenter, Sam Coggin, Claire Word and Bennett Carpenter. He loved and was beloved by several nieces and nephews and his entire family.
Visitation will be Wednesday March 12, 2025, from 1:00-2:45 P.M. with a Graveside service to follow at 3:00 P.M. with Jimmy Cox officiating at Roselawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Barry Carpenter, Josh Carpenter, Tracy Carpenter, Bain Carpenter, Shane Carpenter, and Kevin Belue.
