Linda Davis Whitten, 72, of Gadsden, AL, passed away peacefully on March 10, 2025, after battling years of kidney failure and ultimately succumbing to heart failure. Linda was born on April 24, 1952 to Shirley Lybrand Davis and Gaines L Davis Sr. in Albertville AL. After graduating from Gadsden High School, she went on to become a wife and mother. Some years later she went back to school and studied nursing at Gadsden State Community College. After graduation, she worked mainly in Nursing Homes in the Etowah County area.
Linda was predeceased by her father, Gaines, in 2015; her mother, Shirley, in 2019; and sister, Peggy Davis Smith, in 2019, sister, Renee Davis McGee, in 2022, and son Robert Brady Reaves. She is survived by her husband, Thomas M Whitten; son James R Reaves his wife Deanna and their four children River, Skylar, Sunny, and Lily; daughter, Fayla Reaves, her daughter Makayla Reaves and her two great grandchildren Atlas and Arris; daughter Brooke Whitten Conner and her husband Zack; brother, Mike Davis and his wife Donna; brother, Tim Davis; sister, Gina Davis Lampo and husband Kevin, and many nieces and nephews.
Linda was a big personality in a small package. She had an impact on each person she interacted with. She was strong, inspirational, kind, loving, witty, and a ball of fire that showed us what can be accomplished with determination and persistence. She lived her life to the fullest, despite her many health challenges. She served as a nurse for 30 plus years of her life before retiring. Yet, even amidst the challenges life brought her way, Linda never wavered in her compassion for others. She continued to support her family and extend a helping hand to anyone in need. Linda’s reach was as far as it was wide, and she was cherished deeply by many.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 14, 2025, at Collier-Butler Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Methodist Church Cemetery in Dawson, AL. The family will accept friends from 12:00 pm until the hour of the service at the funeral home on Friday.
