stellaStella Maye Rhodes Graves, age 80, passed away on Sept. 9, 2016, at her home surrounded by family.

Stella was born in Florence, Alabama to Neal Roberts Rhodes and Lurley Hubbard Rhodes.

Stella is survived by her husband, R.N. “Mack” McClain; a son, William Barry Graves (Elaine), of New Port News, Virginia; grandaughters, Courtney Whited, of Austin, Texas, Bethany Bierig (Mark), of Houston, Texas, Hailey Caijo (Michael), of Woodbridge, Virginia, and Holly Graves, of New Port News, Virginia; and a grandson, Jason Steele, also of New Port News, Virginia; three great-grandaughters; and three great-grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Stella was preceded in death by her mother, Lurley Hubbard Rhodes; and father, Neal Roberts Rhodes; a daughter, Cynthia Diane Chappell; four brothers, Arlon Rhodes, Clyde Rhodes, Neal T. Rhodes, and Doris Ray Rhodes; and a sister, Faye Dean Marks.

Stella lived the last 40 years in Arizona retiring from the Department of the Army in Ft. Huachuca in Sierra Vista, Arizona.

A memorial service will be held to honor Stella’s life on Sept. 24, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Mount Tabor United Methodist Church in Florence, Alabama.

Interment will follow the memorial along with a luncheon at the community center.
