Mr. Stacy Martin, 94, died Thursday, June 22, 2023, at his residence in Blue Springs. He was born July 10, 1928 in Sherman, MS to the marital union of Roy Martin and Maude Anderson Martin. After graduating from Sherman High School he was proud to have served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War stationed at MCAS, Cherry Point, NC. He was vice president over trucking for Memphis Furniture Company before becoming president over M&L Trucking, a sister company to Memphis Furniture. He and his late wife, Wilma started to Diversified Freight and moved from Memphis to Blue Springs. During his younger years Stacy enjoyed playing golf. He loved life and enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and playing dominoes with the Parks Domino Group. He was a member of Ellistown Baptist Church.
A celebration of Stacy’s life will be at 1 PM, Saturday, June 24, 2023 in the Sadie Holland Memorial Chapel –Tupelo, with Bro. Mark Cayson and Bro. Jared Busby officiating. Private burial will follow in Lindsey Cemetery, Dennis, MS.
Stacy is preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Wilma; his parents Maude and Roy Martin; 2 brothers, Dwight and Ed Martin, and 1sister, Carol Ann McNutt. He is survived by his daughter, Janice Upton and her husband, Roger; 3 sisters, Martha Williams, Hazel Roberts, and Linda Hankins; 2 grandsons, Devin Upton and Aaron Upton; one step-granddaughter, Chelsea Holloway; 2 great granddaughters, Daelyn and Milly Holloway; and 3 step-grandsons; also, a special niece, Pam Hush (Larry) and a very special partner, Jennie Lynn Johnson, and lots of nieces and nephews.
Honorary pallbearers will be Parks Domino Group.
