FLORENCE – Just as predicted, there was a great turnout Saturday morning at Southwire’s 2nd Annual School Supplies Giveaway. Taressa Foster and Hannah Briggs and the Southwire employee who gave their time helped a few hundred families throughout The Shoals ease up a little bit on school expenses.
Last year, they ran out of of the 750 bags of pencils, paper and various other items. They weren’t going to run out this time. This time Southwire employees put together a thousand kits.
But the event wasn’t just a mundane day of standing in line for a bag of school goodies. No siree… There was face-painting… Bouncy-house… Fire Department smoke-house… Vision-checks, and a few other hyphenated-name things for the kids to have fun with.
They even beat the rain!
