Southern States Athletic Conference Presents the SSAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championship on Saturday, November 4th in Decatur, AL

MOULTON-The Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) is excited to announce the return of the highly-anticipated SSAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships, set to take place on Saturday, November 4th 2023. This prestigious collegiate sporting event will bring together over 120 runners from various institutions across Alabama, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee all vying for the coveted championship titles.

Similar to last year’s successful event, this year’s championship races will be hosted at the Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center’s championship course, creating the perfect backdrop for an exhilarating day of cross country racing. The excitement kicks off at 8:30 a.m. when the women’s 6K race commences, followed by the men’s 8K race at 9:30 a.m.

Competing Institutions: Athletes from the following institutions will be participating in the SSAC Men’s & Women’s Cross Country Championships:

  • Blue Mountain Christian University (Blue Mountain, Miss.)
  • Brewton-Parker College (Mount Vernon, Ga.)
  • Dalton State College (Dalton, Ga.)
  • Faulkner University (Montgomery, Ala.)
  • Life University (Marietta, Ga.)
  • Loyola University (New Orleans, La.)
  • Middle Georgia State University (Macon, Ga.)
  • University of Mobile (Mobile, Ala.)
  • Point University (West Point, Ga.)
  • Stillman College (Tuscaloosa, Ala.)
  • Thomas University (Thomasville, Ga.)
  • UT Southern (Pulaski, Tenn.)
  • William Carey (Hattiesburg, Miss.)

 

The championship course offers an exceptional experience for spectators, allowing them to witness competitive racing from the sidelines. Entry and parking for the event are free of charge, and attendees will have the opportunity to purchase championship souvenirs.

Location: The Oakville Indian Mounds Education Center, conveniently located approximately 8 miles south of Moulton on Alabama Highway 157 and just 1/2 mile from the Jesse Owens Memorial Park, provides a picturesque setting for this thrilling championship event.
