Six In Hospital As Many As Forty Have Fallen Ill From Foodborne Illness In Colbert County

COLBERT COUNTY-Six people have been hospitalized and at least 40 more have gone to the hospital or visited their family doctor after an outbreak of a foodborne illness that happened at a private event in Colbert County over the weekend where there were about 150 people in attendance

ADPH has been investigating the outbreak since Monday, November 14.  According to officials the number of people suffering from the illness is expected to grow.

The Alabama Department of Health has not confirmed which foodborne illness is causing people to become sick.   Symptoms of the illness are vomiting and diarrhea.  Authorities say it does not appear that this outbreak will be a threat to the general public.
