Head-On-Collision Takes Life Of One Person Near Attalla; Sends Three Others To Hospital

ATTALLA-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a two-vehicle accident near Attalla has taken the life of one person and sent three others to hospital including two children:

“A two-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 4:46 p.m. Tuesday, December 10, has claimed the life of an Attalla women.

Janice S. Collier, 70, was fatally injured when the 2006 Chevrolet Silverado that she was driving collided head-on with the 2021 Toyota RAV4 driven by Stephanie C. Samples, 53, of Attalla. After the impact, the Toyota left the roadway and overturned. Collier was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Samples was injured and transported to Riverview Medical Center for treatment. Two child passengers of the Toyota were injured; a 7-year-old, and a 5-year-old, both of Attalla, were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 77 near Gallant Road, approximately two miles north of Attalla, in Etowah County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
