Silvia Doss, 63, of Rainsville, passed away Monday, March 31, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born November 7, 1961, in communist Arad, Romania. After two unsuccessful attempts, she escaped Romania in 1991 to begin a life in the United States. Above all her earthly accomplishments, she was devoted to the Lord in all her ways. She was an amazing, loving and strong wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. No one who met her could ever forget her. Her entire life was centered around service to others with the most importance placed on family.
A brilliant mind, she held a PhD in Latin languages, a Masters in World History, and was fluent in five languages, both written and spoken.
She is survived by her husband and soulmate of 18 years John Doss; her children Tatiana Ferguson, Chiara White, Alessandro Doss, Alessia Doss, Madison Doss, Roman Doss, Loredana Bassolino, and Antonio Bassolino; and sisters Aura and Floricia.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m., Saturday, April 5th at Rainsville Community Church. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until the 2 p.m. hour of service.
Wilson Funeral Home and Crematory of Fort Payne is in charge of arrangements.
