Her commitment never wavered, and she continued working until her health no longer allowed her to do so. Her career also led her to being an active member of the Clifton Rotary Club. She loved nothing more in this life than spending time with her family. She was an exceptional cook and loved time when the family could be gathered around her table. She loved to work in her garden. She will be remembered as the one who was a true embodiment of the term “caretaker”. She made it her life’s mission to make sure her family and friends were well taken care of. She was an avid sports fan, loving to watch Vanderbilt and Tennessee play basketball, and could often be found at the local ball games, watching her grandbabies play. While she enjoyed spending time with her entire family, some of her most cherished moments were being “Nanny Sibyl” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. However, her faith in her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was paramount in her life. She was a lifelong member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. She began as an assistant pianist for several years; in 1970 she became the full-time organist. This was a position she held near and dear to her heart. She proudly served as the Church organist for 51 years before retiring the organ and piano bench in 2021. Mrs. Sibyl also served as a Sunday School teacher for the children’s ministry and then for the youth. She was Girl’s Auxiliary leader for several years and later became WMU director. The youth of the Church were special to her, leading her to also teach the Training Union youth class. In 1985, she started teaching the adult Sunday School class, holding the position for 15 years. She became the Church clerk in 1993 and held the position until her passing.
