IMG_5889 copyFLORENCE – The Shoals’ newest supermarket opened its doors Wednesday with an official Chamber Ribbon Cutting ceremony. It was an early start for a lot of folks who came out to see the new supermarket on Florence Boulevard. The Neighborhood Market concept is a new venture for Walmart, the world’s largest retailer. Shoppers will find that the supermarket has a broad selection of foods and household items. What won’t be found: Televisions; Fishing Gear; Tires; Hawaiian Shirts… Well, you get the picture. Think of this retail store like the left third of your regular Walmart. The store is beautiful. The aisles are wide. The staff is friendly and eager to help a shopper find just what they are hungry for.

The Quad-Cities Daily was on hand to memorialize the event in photographs, and we present them here. As always, these photos are sized for printing at your home, or at a photo kiosk. Please remember that these are made available free of charge for NON-COMMERCIAL USE ONLY.

Welcome to WALMART, Alabama! Where we used to go by Florence. From Renaissance City to Low Prices, Everyday Town. Soon, we’ll start having the Sam Walton Festival instead of the WC Handy.
