Sherry Walker, born March 15, 1959, gracefully departed this world on Thursday, July 3rd, at 12:45 a.m., leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and warmth. A devoted mother, cherished friend, and beloved aunt, Sherry’s life was defined by her deep love for family and community.
Known for her culinary talents, Sherry delighted family and friends with her passion for cooking, baking, and decorating cakes. She often gathered loved ones around her table. She found immense joy in spending time with her daughter, Dr. Amanda Walker of Dyersburg, and treasured moments spent with her nieces—Melissa (Nick) Ruth of Savannah, TN; Paige (Travis) Davis of Sharon, TN; and Megan (Jake) Littrell of Waynesboro, TN and her nephews, Robert (Leslie) Walker of Lawrenceburg, TN and Shane Walker of Strafford, VA. Each of Sherry’s great-nieces and great-nephews—Josalyn, Dawson, Jonathan, Garrett R., Remi Kate, Griffin, Addison, and Garrett W —held a special place in her heart, as did her late great-niece, Jada Ruth, whom she loved from day one. She also held a special place in her heart for her honorary grandchildren, Kaden Reaves, Caden Maxedon, and Case Maxedon.
Sherry was a faithful member and Sunday School teacher at Full Gospel House of Praise in Waynesboro, TN. She also enjoyed her time at Cornerstone Church of God after moving to Dyersburg. Sherry’s infectious spirit and ability to connect with others made her a beacon of light. She was known for never meeting a stranger, sharing smiles and stories wherever she went. In her final years, you could find her playing bingo or exercising at the Dyer County Office of Aging with all her friends. She was also an avid sports fan, watching all Ole Miss sports on TV and attending games at Dyersburg State with her daughter, Amanda. To know Sherry is to love her.
Sherry is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary Walker, along with her father and mother, Edsel and Willie Mae Davis; sister, Sybil Tinin; grandparents, Pearl Matlock, Arnold Davis, Buster Matlock, John Sharp, and Edata Mae Sharp. Her legacy lives on through the countless lives she touched, reminding us all to cherish each moment and spread love and kindness.
