Sheila Ann Jackson Waldron, age 42, of Athens passed away Tuesday,
June 11, 2013, while on vacation in Navarre, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Hayes Jackson and
Patricia Ann Jackson.
She is survived by her husband, Paul Stephen Waldron of Athens,
daughter Anna Kay Michels of Athens, sister Tammy Jackson LeCroix
and husband Ray of Rogersville, sister Janet Jackson Dean and husband
Tom of Athens, brother Thomas Darrell Jackson and wife Crystal of
Huntsville, three nieces, four nephews, and three great-nephews.
Sheila was diagnosed with terminal cancer in August 2012. Although
she suffered from constant pain, she was determined to fulfill her
bucket list. She wanted to put her feet in the ocean and see the
dolphins. As the date for our trip approached, Sheila became
increasingly excited and happy. Upon seeing the ocean for the first
time, Sheila cried that she had made it! With the help of a special
lifeguard and family, Sheila was able to wade in the surf on Saturday.
Monday night we watched five dolphins playing in the water. Her
bucket list was complete. Sheila passed away peacefully in her sleep on
Tuesday. Because this trip was so important to Sheila and us, our
family will be honoring her with a beachside memorial service in
Navarre on Friday, June 14, 2013. No funeral is planned at this time.
