Sheffield Police Chief Greg Ray
SHEFFIELD – Greg Ray, Sheffield Chief of Police for 4-year s has been fired by Mayor Ian Sanford. Fire Chief, Dewey King, is reportedly named as acting Chief.
Over the past several months, more than one City Council Member has indicated that Ray’s performance was not what it should have been. However, the notion of terminating his position with The Sheffield Police Department, was never mentioned as a possibility.
Ray, told The Quad-Cities Daily that he is keeping his options open. According to Civil Service rules, he has 5 business days to appeal the firing.
