Sharon Morris Townsend, age 81, of Leoma, TN passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia, TN. She was a native of Leoma, TN, retired from the Lawrence County Election Office, and of the Methodist Faith. She loved Sunday afternoon singings and spending time with her children.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Austin and Vola Stephenson Morris; her husband, Robert Lee Townsend; and two sisters, Dorothy Lumpkins and Cherene Johnson.
She is survived by one son, Bobby Townsend of Pulaski, TN; one daughter, Cathy Laxson (Barry) of Pulaski, TN; six grandchildren, Whitt Laxson, Jackson Townsend (Cara), Parker Townsend (Carlie), Morgan Townsend, Meredith Garvin (Hunter), and Courtney Fay; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM Sunday, April 28, 2024, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 2:00 PM Sunday, April 28, 2024, with William McLain officiating. Interment will follow at Center Point Methodist Cemetery in Lawrence County, TN.
