  Wayne Louis Jordan Profile PhotoWayne Louis Jordan of Madison, Al was born on 19 April 1935 in Clay Center Nebraska to Walter Ludwig Herbert Jordan and Emma Maria Margret Griemsmann.  He grew up on a farm 2 miles north and 1 mile west of Clay Center. He attended East Lynn elementary school.

At age 13, he moved off the farm with his family to Lincoln, Nebraska.  Wayne graduated from Lincoln Northeast High in 1952. He graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1956, where he was a member of the Nebraska Academy of Sciences and the Crescent fraternity.  Wayne served in the Army Reserves from 1958-1964. He was a Mason and a member of the Helion Lodge No. 1 F. & A. M. for nearly 60 years.

He began learning the construction trade in 1954.  That trade brought him to Alabama in 1956 where he met the love of his life, Freida Yvonne Cagle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Cagle of Mt. Hope, AL.  Wayne married Fredia on June 15, 1957, at Hickory Grove Presbyterian church.  A son was born from this union.

Wayne started and operated Jordan’s Acoustical and Drywall for many years until his retirement. Wayne was a longtime member of the Huntsville-Madison County Builders Association, where he received the Stephen B. Williams Associate of the Year Award in 1995. Wayne enjoyed designing and building everything he needed from buildings, to furniture, gunstocks, pens, and knives.  But he was most passionate about bass fishing and lake life.

Wayne departed his life early Wednesday morning, April 24, 2024 in Madison, AL The cause of death was complications from cancer.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Freida.  He leaves to mourn his departure one son, Michael and wife Susan of Madison, AL, two granddaughters; Annie of Huntsville, AL and Ashley of Birmingham, AL. Also, he leaves extended family of Aaron and Anna Kirkpatrick and son Ira James of Chattanooga, TN along with many other precious relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at Legacy Chapel Funeral Home, Madison AL, at 12 o’clock on Friday, April 26, 2024.  Interment will be made in the Masonic section of Valhalla Memory Gardens.
