SCORE! Birmingham To Host World Games In 2021

iwga-logo-news-section-304xx356-237-0-10BIRMINGHAM-Birmingham has been chosen to host The World Games in 2021.  The World games showcases sports not included in the Olympic program.  There are more than 25 sports on the roster, such as sumo wrestling, water skiing and lacrosse.

The decision was announced on Thursday, January 22 that Birmingham had won the honor over such cities as Lima, Peru and Ufa, Russia. Birmingham will be the first U.S. City to host these games since Santa Clara, California in 1981.bidding-for-2021-birmingham-lima-ufa-The-World-Games-2021-300x349

President of IWGA, Jose Peruena says that The World Games are happy to showcase their sports in Birmingham.

The 10th edition will take  place in Wroclaw, Poland, in 2017. The 2013 games were held in Cali, Colombia.  The 11th editiongames will be held in July of 2021 in Birmingham.
