ATHENS- There is an email scam that has been circulating using the Athens Utilities in the subject line of the email. An Athens Utilities customer received the email below regarding a debit/credit card on file that supposedly has expired. The email includes “City of Athens Utilities” in the subject line. This is not a legitimate email.
This email was not issued by Athens Utilities or an agent of Athens Utilities despite the fact that it says Athens Utilities in the subject line Those who receive the email should not respond to this request in any way and should not click the link.
If you receive one of these emails or any type of suspicious email, please notify Customer Relations Manager Amy Golden at agolden@athens-utilities. com.
Note: The Name and the email address of the person who received this have been replaced by XXX
