Sarah Nancy Bearden Tipps, age 94 of Lynchburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at McArthur Manor Assisted Living in Manchester. She was born in Fayetteville on December 27, 1925 to the late Clifford Wilson and Rachel Ireva (Spencer) Bearden. In her younger years, Nancy worked in Oak Ridge with Project Manthan, at the phone company in Lynchburg, and at Hill’s Grocery and V and J Market. She had also worked as a hostess at Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House and Restaurant. Nancy enjoyed cooking, especially roast beef and cowboy cookies, and had made enough angel food cakes to feed Moore County. She also enjoyed sewing and making keepsakes, as well as caring for the elderly in her community. Nancy was a member of Arbor Primitive Baptist Church and will be remembered for her patient and caring nature. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wade Douglas Tipps; siblings, Louise Eley, Wilson Bearden, and Bob Bearden; and granddaughter, Sarah Tipps. Nancy is survived by her loving sons, Richard (Susan) Tipps of Sequim, Washington, Mike (Virginia) Tipps of Fayetteville, Jim (Debbie) Tipps of Beavercreek, Ohio, and Tom Tipps of San Diego, California; grandchildren, Greg (Paige) Tipps, Chad (Tori) Tipps, Rachel (James) Jennings, and Seth Tipps; great-grandchildren, Brandon, Baylor, Maddyn, Archie, Grasen, Ansley, Dosha, Zac, Elena, Nathan, and Teddy; and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 12-3 pm on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home in Lynchburg. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 pm in the Chapel of Jennings-Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Awalt and her nephew, Greg Bearden, officiating. Interment will be at Lynchburg Cemetery.
