Sarah Jill Sims Jourdan, 63, of Florence, Alabama, died Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at her residence. Jill was a 1971 graduate of Calhoun City High School, and later a graduate of the Mississippi University for Women. She finished her studies at the University of Mississippi where she earned a Master’s Degree in Education. Jill was a long time member and choir member of the Iuka United Methodist Church, and also attended First United Methodist Church in Florence. She was also a retired business education teacher and guidance counselor for Iuka Elementary School and Iuka Middle School after 30 years of service. Visitation is scheduled for 11 AM until 12:30 PM on Friday, November 4 at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 1 PM on Friday, November 4, 2016, graveside, officiated by Rev. Kerry Powell. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. She is survived by 1 daughter – Mollie Jourdan Seymour (Dixon) of Birmingham, AL; 1 son – David Olen, IV of Iuka; 1 brother – David Sims (Anita) of Calhoun City, MS; and 1 sister – Frances Sims Nichols (Dr. Joe Nichols) of Houston, MS; and two grandchildren, Aliene and John Seymour. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Forest and Betty Murphy Sims; her brother, Jack Dee Sims; and her sister, Betty Anne Sims Vance. Memorial contributions may be made to the Iuka United Methodist Church Memorial Fund or to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital at www.lebhoneur.org.
