Sarah Jane Stanford, age 80, of Boaz, passed away on November 27, 2023, at Marshall Medical Center South. She was born to the late Jesse and Mildred Miller and is now reunited with them in eternal peace. Sarah touched the lives of many with her warmth, kindness, and love.
Sarah found immense joy in playing the piano. Her music filled the hearts of those around her and left a lasting impression on anyone fortunate enough to hear her play. In addition to her musical talents, she was known for spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with love and affection.
She is survived by her grandchildren, Jessica Scott (Alan), Caitlin Thurmond (Alicia), Madelyn Thurmond, Kris Thurmond (Rachel); son-in-law, Scott Thurmond; and 17 great-grandchildren. Sarah’s love and legacy will continue to live on through the cherished memories shared by her family.
Sarah Jane Stanford was preceded in death by her daughter, Mitsey Thurmond; grandson, Matthew Thurmond; and her brother, Billy Frank Miller.
A funeral service to celebrate Sarah’s life will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, November 30, 2023, at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at the funeral home starting at 1:00 pm on Thursday. Following the service, Sarah will be laid to rest at Beulah Baptist Church Cemetery. Assisting in escorting her to her final resting place will be Hunter Corbin, Kris Thurmond, Matthew Scott, Rocky Stanford, Aidan Minor, and David Swearengin.
