Mr. John Wayne Gable John Wayne Gable, age 74, of Boaz, Alabama, passed away on November 27, 2023. He was born on January 28, 1949, to the late Ben and Millie Gable. John dedicated over 40 years of his life to Wayne Farms, where he worked tirelessly in maintenance. His hard work and commitment were a testament to his strong work ethic.
Beyond the workplace, John had a passion for junking and scrapping. He found joy in riding backroads, picking up cans, and turning what others may see as discarded into something valuable. His love for this simple pleasure reflected his down-to-earth nature and appreciation for the beauty in the little things.
One of John’s greatest joys in life was traveling with his family. Whether it was exploring new places or revisiting cherished destinations, he treasured the time spent together, creating lasting memories that will be cherished by his loved ones.
John is survived by his children: Jerry Holcomb (Stephanie), Amanda Collyer (Michael), Michelle Welden (Carson), Ronnie Character, Brandy Frady, Anna Pike (Heath); grandchildren: Whitney and Austin Holcomb, Cheyenne Johnson (Logan), LeAnn Lankford, Jada, Megan, Madison, and Chase Welden, Brooklyn and Kylee Character, Dylan, Kyle, and Logan Frady, Drake Allen; great-grandchildren: Cora and Laikyn Johnson; brother: Benny Gable; sisters: Diane Marble, Kathy Smith, Jeannette Sims, Barbara Gilbert.
In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his sisters: Ophelia Allen, Linda Bartlet, Melba Porter, Edline Jones, Betty Jean Oliver, Agnus Watson, and Shirley Gable; brothers: Jack Gable, Bill Gable, and Jimmy Gable.
A funeral service to celebrate John’s life will be held on Thursday, November 30, 2023, 11:00 am at Adams Brown Service Funeral Home, with Benny Gable officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 9:00 am until the time of the service on Thursday and on Wednesday evening from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Pallbearers, who will assist Mr. Gable to his final resting place at New Hope Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, include Logan Johnson, Drake Allen, Chase Welden, Glen Gable, Harold Oliver, and Corey Morgan.
John Wayne Gable will be remembered for his hard work, love for family, and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness. May he rest in peace, surrounded by the love and memories he created with those who cherished him.
